ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT

ENVIRONMENTAL NOISE

AIR QUALITY

As part of Vanguardia's ongoing involvement at the London Distribution Park at Tilbury, we provided the acoustic and air quality assessments for Amazon's largest European fulfilment centre at the London Distribution Park. The assessments were submitted as part of an addendum to the original Environmental Statement.

The development was granted permission by Thurrock Council in July 2016 and comprises a four storey 2.2m sq ft fulfilment centre. Once built, this will be the largest warehouse in the UK and is reported to have triggered the UK's biggest industrial investment deal.

The assessments considered the effect of additional road traffic on air quality and noise, operational noise from warehousing operations and from the car park. As the development was anticipated to have unique and intense travel patterns (due to the sheer number of people that would be employed) the assessment of road traffic noise and the car park noise had to carefully consider the impacts in the key hours when employees would arrive and depart from the site in addition to the broader noise impacts across the wider day and night time periods. This required very lose liaison with the traffic consultant and Thurrock Council.
