Vanguardia were commissioned by London Fit Out to work on two separate voice recording studio projects, both for the same end-Client (this was an individual media executive client of London Fit Out). For both projects, Vanguardia provided detailed architectural acoustics advice to the Contractor to assist with their Design & Build (JCT D&B) contract in collaboration with the end-Client.
Vanguardia started out by providing the Client with a set of acoustic performance criteria which the voice recording studios should be designed to. This included setting the internal noise limits for the control rooms and voice recording booths (from both external noise (generated within the building) and new, air-handling equipment), the internal room acoustic performance and the sound insulation performance of the perimeter constructions. Vanguardia were invited to both of the end-Client’s offices to conduct initial background noise measurements, to determine the extent of external noise affecting the proposed location of the new voice recording rooms.
Further on, Vanguardia collaborated with the Client’s audio engineering specialist, to determine the room layouts, rooms volumes/dimensions and quantum, performance and location of all acoustic absorption and diffusion treatments, to satisfy the original acoustic design criteria.
The end-client was immensely pleased with the architectural and acoustic performance outcomes of the studios in both locations (Sea Containers House and 40 Chancery Lane).
